Jabalya – The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza organized an event in support of Palestinian prisoners and imprisoned General Secretary of the Front, Ahmad Sa’adat, with a large number of comrades and friends of the Front.
Comrade Yassin Abu Luz spoke about the occupation’s attempt to repress the prisoners, saying that the will of the Palestinian prisoner, the Palestinian human being, is stronger than the will of the executioner, noting that the Palestinian prisoners’ movement turned the prisons into schools which graduated revolutionary leaders and fighters on the front line of confrontation with the occupier and in permanent contradiction with the occupation’s racist nature.
He saluted the anniversary of the October 17, 2001 military operation by the Front in response to the assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa, the General Secretary of the PFLP, in which the Front’s military forces assassinated the notorious racist Zionist minister, Rehavam Ze’evi, saying that the October 17 operation was a historic moment for the modern Palestinian revolution. “We will not put down our arms despite the long road ahead of us, the path of struggle until we achieve our legitimate goals.”
Comrade Abu Luz urged progressive and leftist forces around the world to escalate campaigns of solidarity with the prisoners and pressure the Zionist occupation to stop the violation of prisoners’ rights and struggle for their liberation.
He also called for all parties and forces and national and Islamic movements and resistance brigades, to consider the issue of prisoners high on their scale of priorities and advocate for their cause and liberation using all methods available, particularly the capture of soldiers for exchange for prisoners.
Khan Younis – The PFLP in Khan Younis organized a sit-in in solidarity with the prisoners in the occupation prisons, and all of the prisoners of the Palestinian cause, led by Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, General Secretary of the PFLP, and imprisoned Lebanese struggler for Palestine, Georges Abdallah. The sit-in was joined by cadres and friends of the Front and members of Palestinian political organizations. Comrade Iyad Abdul Ghafoor spoke on behalf of the Front, expressing that there had been a decline in attention to the prisoners’ issue, attributing this to the war against the Gaza Strip and the brutal “security” campaign in the West Bank, emphasizing the need to keep the prisoners at the front of our struggle as the freedom of the prisoners is a collective national priority.
A delegation from the Front and the national and Islamic forces presented a petition to the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, calling on the ICRC to uphold its responsibilities and act to stop the violations of prisoners’ rights by the Zionist prison services against Palestinian prisoners.
Al-Khalil – The PFLP and the solidarity campaign with Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, held a demonstration in support of the Palestinian prisoners in the Zionist occupation prisons, and in solidarity with Arab struggler Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, imprisoned in French prisons for 30 years. The demonstration took place at Ibn Rushd roundabout in downtown Al-Khalil, where participatns raised posters of imprisoned Palestinian leaders, inclding Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, Marwan Barghouthi, Hassan Salameh, Fouad Shobaki and Lina Jarboni.
Comrades Badran Jaber and Abdel-Alim Dana spoke at the rally, emphasizing the importance of supporting the prisoners at this time, when they are facing severe repression meant to undermine the achievements of the prisoners’ movement, including prohibiting family visits. They demanded international action to support the rights and freedom of the prisoners.
Ain el-Helweh Refugee Camp, Lebanon – The PFLP in Saida area held an event in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat, George Abdallah and all Palestinian and Arab prisoners for the Palestinian cause, and in support of Jerusalem in Ain el-Helweh camp on October 19, attended by friends and comrades of the Front, and Palestinian national and Islamic forces, popular committees and Palestinian associations.
Speakers from the PFLP, Hamas, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine spoke, saluting the prisoners’ struggle and expressing the dedication of Palestinians in Lebanon to struggle for the liberation of prisoners, and the liberation of Palestine and return of the exiled Palestinian people.
Rafah -
The PFLP in Gaza held a protest in Rafah at Al-Awda Roundabout on Sunday, October 19, in support of Comrade Sa’adat, George Abdallah, and all of the Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons and everywhere imprisoned for the cause of Palestine. The protesters marched through Rafah, chanting against the ongoing Zionist attacks on the prisoners and in support of the prisoners’ cause, carrying posters of Sa’adat, Abdallah, and banners in support of the prisoners.
The marchers saluted Sa’adat’s steadfast refusal to the Zionist repression directed against the prisoners in general and him in particular, asserting that he has warned that he will enter an open hunger strike if the prison administration does not cancel the bar on family visits and end the policy of depriving prisoners of their fundamental human and legal rights.
Beit Hanoun – The PFLP in Beit Hanoun organized a soccer tournament in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat and the prisoners. Comrade Medhat Za’anin spoke at the event, emphasizing the need to constantly prioritize support for the prisoners until they are liberated from the occupation prisons. He saluted the martyrs of Beit Hanoun and all of Palestine, and all the people of Beit Hanoun, who confronted some of the most brutal assaults of the Zionist war machine during 51 days of aggression.
Four teams, named for the martyrs of Palestine, played in the tournament, and were honored for their participation. Honorary plaques were also presented to the families of the martyrs.
Beit Lahiya – A voluntary day of support for farmers in the olive harvest in the border areas of northern Gaza near Beit Lahiya was organized by the PFLP and Progressive Palestinian Youth in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners.
Comrade Saber Za’anin spoke about the importance of the olive tree and its deep ties to the land throughout history, a symbol of steadfastness. “The recent aggression on the Gaza Strip destroyed many trees and agricultural area, but the will of Palestinian farmers rises above this destruction.”
Comrade Samir Zaqout said that it is important to continue voluntary work and other actions in the “ “border area,” because it is a disaster area and is exposed to constant threats from the occupation army.
