ÉIRÍGÍ STAND WITH PFLP – DEMAND RELEASE OF POLITICAL PRISONERS

Dozens gathered on the Falls Road on Sunday (19th October) to stand in solidarity with our Palestinian comrades in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

The éirígí organised picket was in response to a call from the PFLP for broad support over several ‘days of action’ to demand the release of Palestinian prisoners, in particular ‘Ahmad Sa’adat’ – General Secretary of the PFLP and ‘Georges Ibrahim Abdallah’ – Lebanese militant and ex-member of PFLP-EO. Both men have now been held for decades in prisons in Israel and France respectively.

Anti-Imperialist Committee of Catalunya: Freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat!

The following statement was issued by the Anti-Imperialist Committee of Catalunya in solidarity with the struggle of Palestinian prisoners:

Libertat per Ahmad Saadat

The Anti-Imperialist Committee of Catalunya demands the Zionist entity of “israel” to set free the General Secretary of the PFLP Ahmad Sa’adat. Ahmad Sa’adat represents an example of steadfastness and dignity in front of the occupier and he’s an example of revolutionary engagement in front of his people, the Palestinian and the Arab people.
The Zionist entity of Israel applies a systematic torture in its prison facilities, trying to bend and destroy the will of thousands of Palestinians in prison, from the youngest child to the eldest elderly.

The dignity of the Palestinian people can not be “imprisoned”.

Zionism is based on lies, in engagement, in robbery, murder, ethnic cleansing and apartheid, which can never prevail.

We demand immediate freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat!
Freedom for Palestinian prisoners and all prisoners!
End for the occupation! For a secular, democratic and progressive Palestine!

Abu Saud salutes prisoners, calls for unified work and struggle of former prisoners

Comrade Ahmad Abu Saud spoke about the need to unify the work of the former prisoners liberated in the Wafa al-Ahrar prisoner exchange in a unified national association of prisoners as a center for the work of all of the liberated prisoners.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the three-year anniversary of the Wafa al-Ahrar exchange, Abu Saud noted that among the liberated prisoners, there are a number of prisoners who were “deported from their homes and are deprived of the warmth of family and face difficulties as they seek stability in their new residences.”

He also noted the suffering of the prisoners inside the occupation prisons, increasing daily due to the systematic repression and terror campaigns by the prison authorities, which “reqire all of us to raise our level of sacrifice and responsibility to give the needed attention to this issue as a central issue and a priority on our national agenda.”

...He saluted the resilience and steadfastness of the prisoners who remain behind bars, including the veteran prisoners who have been held for decades and the patient prisoners suffering illness and disease.

We Are All Resistance campaign memorializes the martyrs of Gaza

The We Are All Resistance campaign, organized by the Palestinian Progressive Youth Union, posted a panel honoring the martyrs of the Gaza aggression of 2014 in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council building in Gaza City, bearing the names of the 2,147 martyrs who fell at the hands of occupation forces.

Events inside and outside Palestine demand justice and freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners

Jabalya – The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza organized an event in support of Palestinian prisoners and imprisoned General Secretary of the Front, Ahmad Sa’adat, with a large number of comrades and friends of the Front.

Comrade Yassin Abu Luz spoke about the occupation’s attempt to repress the prisoners, saying that the will of the Palestinian prisoner, the Palestinian human being, is stronger than the will of the executioner, noting that the Palestinian prisoners’ movement turned the prisons into schools which graduated revolutionary leaders and fighters on the front line of confrontation with the occupier and in permanent contradiction with the occupation’s racist nature.

He saluted the anniversary of the October 17, 2001 military operation by the Front in response to the assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa, the General Secretary of the PFLP, in which the Front’s military forces assassinated the notorious racist Zionist minister, Rehavam Ze’evi, saying that the October 17 operation was a historic moment for the modern Palestinian revolution. “We will not put down our arms despite the long road ahead of us, the path of struggle until we achieve our legitimate goals.”

Comrade Abu Luz urged progressive and leftist forces around the world to escalate campaigns of solidarity with the prisoners and pressure the Zionist occupation to stop the violation of prisoners’ rights and struggle for their liberation.

He also called for all parties and forces and national and Islamic movements and resistance brigades, to consider the issue of prisoners high on their scale of priorities and advocate for their cause and liberation using all methods available, particularly the capture of soldiers for exchange for prisoners.

Khan Younis – The PFLP in Khan Younis organized a sit-in in solidarity with the prisoners in the occupation prisons, and all of the prisoners of the Palestinian cause, led by Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, General Secretary of the PFLP, and imprisoned Lebanese struggler for Palestine, Georges Abdallah. The sit-in was joined by cadres and friends of the Front and members of Palestinian political organizations. Comrade Iyad Abdul Ghafoor spoke on behalf of the Front, expressing that there had been a decline in attention to the prisoners’ issue, attributing this to the war against the Gaza Strip and the brutal “security” campaign in the West Bank, emphasizing the need to keep the prisoners at the front of our struggle as the freedom of the prisoners is a collective national priority.

A delegation from the Front and the national and Islamic forces presented a petition to the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, calling on the ICRC to uphold its responsibilities and act to stop the violations of prisoners’ rights by the Zionist prison services against Palestinian prisoners.

Al-Khalil – The PFLP and the solidarity campaign with Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, held a demonstration in support of the Palestinian prisoners in the Zionist occupation prisons, and in solidarity with Arab struggler Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, imprisoned in French prisons for 30 years. The demonstration took place at Ibn Rushd roundabout in downtown Al-Khalil, where participatns raised posters of imprisoned Palestinian leaders, inclding Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, Marwan Barghouthi, Hassan Salameh, Fouad Shobaki and Lina Jarboni.

Comrades Badran Jaber and Abdel-Alim Dana spoke at the rally, emphasizing the importance of supporting the prisoners at this time, when they are facing severe repression meant to undermine the achievements of the prisoners’ movement, including prohibiting family visits. They demanded international action to support the rights and freedom of the prisoners.

Ain el-Helweh Refugee Camp, Lebanon – The PFLP in Saida area held an event in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat, George Abdallah and all Palestinian and Arab prisoners for the Palestinian cause, and in support of Jerusalem in Ain el-Helweh camp on October 19, attended by friends and comrades of the Front, and Palestinian national and Islamic forces, popular committees and Palestinian associations.

Speakers from the PFLP, Hamas, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine spoke, saluting the prisoners’ struggle and expressing the dedication of Palestinians in Lebanon to struggle for the liberation of prisoners, and the liberation of Palestine and return of the exiled Palestinian people.

Rafah
The PFLP in Gaza held a protest in Rafah at Al-Awda Roundabout on Sunday, October 19, in support of Comrade Sa’adat, George Abdallah, and all of the Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons and everywhere imprisoned for the cause of Palestine. The protesters marched through Rafah, chanting against the ongoing Zionist attacks on the prisoners and in support of the prisoners’ cause, carrying posters of Sa’adat, Abdallah, and banners in support of the prisoners.

The marchers saluted Sa’adat’s steadfast refusal to the Zionist repression directed against the prisoners in general and him in particular, asserting that he has warned that he will enter an open hunger strike if the prison administration does not cancel the bar on family visits and end the policy of depriving prisoners of their fundamental human and legal rights.

Beit Hanoun – The PFLP in Beit Hanoun organized a soccer tournament in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat and the prisoners. Comrade Medhat Za’anin spoke at the event, emphasizing the need to constantly prioritize support for the prisoners until they are liberated from the occupation prisons. He saluted the martyrs of Beit Hanoun and all of Palestine, and all the people of Beit Hanoun, who confronted some of the most brutal assaults of the Zionist war machine during 51 days of aggression.

Four teams, named for the martyrs of Palestine, played in the tournament, and were honored for their participation. Honorary plaques were also presented to the families of the martyrs.

Beit Lahiya – A voluntary day of support for farmers in the olive harvest in the border areas of northern Gaza near Beit Lahiya was organized by the PFLP and Progressive Palestinian Youth in solidarity with Comrade Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners.

Comrade Saber Za’anin spoke about the importance of the olive tree and its deep ties to the land throughout history, a symbol of steadfastness. “The recent aggression on the Gaza Strip destroyed many trees and agricultural area, but the will of Palestinian farmers rises above this destruction.”

Comrade Samir Zaqout said that it is important to continue voluntary work and other actions in the “ “border area,” because it is a disaster area and is exposed to constant threats from the occupation army.

Struggle in Sardinia achieves victory for Palestine: occupation state excluded from military exercises

The Palestinian people and the movement in solidarity with Palestine achieved a major victory in Sardinia, Italy, as the occupation state’s military has been removed from an international military training exercise on Sardinia after a growing protest movement, led by the Palestinian community locally alongside Palestine solidarity organizations and anti-militarist groups. Protests have been organized, the Sardinia-Palestine Friendship Association gathered over 14,000 signatures on a petition against the occupation army’s involvement in the exercises, and numerous direct appeals from Palestinian groups reached Sardinia. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine salutes the people of Sardinia and all who struggled to achieve this victory, as part of the ongoing escalation of international solidarity with the Palestinian people, the leadership of Palestinian communities around the world in struggling for Palestine and building the movement internationally, and the growing campaign for boycott, divestment, sanctions and the international isolation of the occupation state.

PFLP salutes the solidarity movement with the Palestinian people in Britain

The Front considers that the vote in the House of Commons, which calls for the British government to recognize Palestine as a state, reflects the growing weight and power of the solidarity movement in Britain. However, the vote itself is, on the part of the British state, at best merely symbolic and lacking in meaningful action to change the situation in Palestine.

Britain as a colonial power is directly responsible for the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people, through its major historical crime of the colonization of Palestine and the establishment of the Zionist entity in Palestine. To this day, Britain continues to provide political, military and financial support for the Zionist entity and provides cover for its crimes in international forums.

The Front pointed out that the parliamentary vote came in response to the escalating popular movement of rejection of the occupation’s crimes, in Europe and around the world, especially those committed by the occupation army in the Gaza Strip during the recent aggression...

Further, the Popular Front extended its salutes and appreciation to the Palestinian and Arab communities and all progressive forces, trade unions and student movements who lead the boycott campaigns in Britain, for their sustained and dedicated efforts which have played the major role in placing significant pressure on the Parliament and demanding meaningful change and support for Palestinian rights.

PFLP calls for struggle to resist occupation attacks on Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem

The Popular Front for the Liberation called upon the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, in the 1948 occupied areas, the occupied West Bank, and in all locations, to take immediate and urgent action to confront the attacks of hundreds of colonial settlers and occupation soldiers since early Monday, October 13. They are attempting to impose “facts on the ground” as a step toward controlling Al-Aqsa, dividing it, and allegedly “rebuilding the Temple” in its place.

This is all part of a Zionist plan to obtain full control of Jerusalem and attempt to undermine the status of the city as the eternal capital of the Palestinian people. The PFLP said that these ongoing events are a dangerous development and escalation in the ongoing and long-time policy of the occupation forces, who stormed al-Aqsa in the hundreds, closing the area, preventing Palestinians from entering or leaving, in order to ensure a clear course for settlers to enter under the banner of the “revival of the temple.”

This comes at the same time as hundreds of occupation settlers accompanied by over 35 occupation military vehicles entered Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus, meeting protests and resistance. In addition, this is the time of the olive harvest which has been characterized by ongoing settler and soldier violence against Palestinian farmers, including cutting and damaging of olive trees.

The PFLP demanded the Palestinian Authority and all Palestinian forces take up a serious rejection of negotiations and all the consequent meetings and coordination and instead act to rally the Arab, Islamic and international forces to defend Jerusalem and the Palestinian people facing attack, ethnic cleansing and exclusion, and support the steadfastness of its people, financially, politically and morally.

Protest in Belfast, Ireland to demand freedom for Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners

Protest in Belfast, Ireland to demand freedom for Sa’adat and Palestinian prisoners

éirígí, the Irish republican socialist organization, is answering the call to stand with Palestinian prisoners and demand freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat (imprisoned PFLP General Secretary), Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, and all Palestinian political prisoners.

“In solidarity with our Palestinian Comrades and their call for participation in ‘days of action’ to free Palestinian political prisoners, éirígí Béal Feirste are organising a whiteline picket on Sunday 19th October at 2.30pm, at the bottom of the Whiterock Road. The following is an article from the PFLP website calling for solidarity actions – éirígí calls upon other progressive groups and organisations to mobilise in support and to get organising solidarity actions,” éirígí writes.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine salutes the comrades in éirígí and their solid commitment to Palestinian liberation and to Palestinian political prisoners, emerging from the longtime and ongoing Irish struggle for liberation from British colonialism and the legendary struggles of Irish political prisoners in British prisons.

Al-Najah students protest for student rights following suppression of protest against US consul

The Progressive Student Action Front at Al-Najah University in Nablus will protest on Monday afternoon, October 13, at 12:30 pm outside the university administration building at Al-Najah’s old campus, in protest of the administration’s continued banning of two student activists from campus.

The administration’s action is continued retaliation for the student protest against the visit of the U.S. consul to campus, while the United States provides billions of dollars in military and economic support and unlimited political and diplomatic support to the Zionist occupation. Two weeks ago, students protested his visit and were attacked by university security, even outside the campus property.

Despite the stated agreement of the university administration and the signing of a pledge between the administration and students that the students would be allowed to return to campus, it appears that the security is blocking their return. The Progressive Student Action Front asked in a statement, “Has campus security become the owner and director of the university?”

The Front is committed to continue its protests, accompanied by other student political blocs, to resolve this issue and ensure the students’ return to campus.

On behalf of the General Secretary, Ahmad Sa’adat, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine expresses its sincere congratulations to the people of Bolivia, the popular movements of Bolivia, and the progressive forces of the world on the occasion of the victory of internationalist Bolivian President Evo Morales for a third term. This victory is a victory for the values of freedom and social justice, confrontation of imperialism and its policies on a global level, and for the Palestinian people and their struggle for liberation.

The victory of President Morales, who is of the indigenous people of Bolivia, is a clear demonstration of the Bolivian people’s support for his policies in the direction of the country, the escalation of the struggle for socialism, building support for the popular classes and Bolivian masses, and confronting the capitalists and wealthy forces who were defeated in this election.

These election results provide further support to the Palestinian people in their just struggle against the Zionist occupation, noting in particular the clear and bold positions taken by Bolivia upholding the rights of our people, including the statements of President Evo Morales during the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip, including his statement that the occupier is a terrorist state.

Ahmad Saadat is the secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and a former member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). He is the highest-ranking official of a Palestinian faction currently imprisoned by the Israeli occupation regime. Saadat’s imprisonment is not atypical for political leaders in Palestine, many of whom have been arrested and detained, with or without charge, by Israel. However, the circumstances surrounding both Saadat’s initial arrest and the first four years of his detention were unique...

How has prison changed you on a personal level? What is your life like? What do you read and how do you keep up with the political situation? Are you able to write?

My prison experience both forged and tempered my political outlook and my party affiliation, but my time in prison has also been enriched by my lived experience of the struggle on the outside. On and off, I’ve spent a total of twenty-four years in prison, and here I am, incarcerated once again with the rest of my comrades. I spend my time reading and engaging in activities related to our struggle as prisoners, which includes my comrades’ education and teaching a history course from the Al-Aqsa University curriculum. The bulk of my writing pertains to the needs of the PFLP prisoners’ organization and to issues of national interest. I also try to support the members of the PFLP leadership on the outside whenever I can. If I had to describe how my current detention has changed me, I would sum it up by saying that I observe political events with more detachment, as I am afforded the opportunity not to be immersed in the day-to-day details of political and organizing work on the outside. This perspective has only served to strengthen my belief in the soundness of the PFLP’s vision, whether ideologically, politically, or in terms of its praxis, including its positions on pressing/existential issues that are presently surrounded by controversy: the negotiations, [intra-Palestinian] reconciliation, and our prospects for emerging from the current crisis and impasse.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine expresses its solidarity with the Kurdish resistance in Kobane struggling to defend themselves and their community from the reactionary armed group, ISIS, whose entry into our region has been facilitated and supported by imperialist powers and their lackeys.

Comrade Khaled Barakat said that “All Palestinian and Arab revolutionary forces should unify their efforts to support the struggle of the Kurdish resistance in Kobane against ISIS and their imperialist supporters."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Today, Kurdish fighters, women and men, struggle for their freedom and their lives against these reactionary groups whose presence in the region has been furnished, armed and supported by imperialism and its allies and agents in the region. It is no accident and not mere symbolism that ISIS is attacking Kobane today with U.S. weaponry,” said Barakat. “In particular, the role of women fighters in the Kurdish resistance at all levels of struggle and leadership present a heroic example of sacrifice.”

“It must also be noted that the role of the Turkish state and government, one of Israel’s largest trading partners and a key military ally of the United States, has been to encourage the entry of these reactionary armed groups (ISIS and others) now attacking Kobane into Syria. At the same time, in the past several days, dozens of Kurdish protesters have been killed by the armed force of the Turkish state. The so-called ‘security zone’ being pushed by France and Turkey, and the airstrikes of the US and its allies, are nothing more than a cover for the entry of imperialism in the region. The only real security can be established by popular struggle and resistance, not imperialist armies and air forces,” Barakat said.

PFLP calls for broad participation in days of action to free Ahmad Sa’adat, Georges Abdallah

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine calls upon all to participate in the activities and campaigns that have been launched to support the Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons and demand their freedom. Events, organized by the Palestinian prisoners’ movement, the Campaign to Free Ahmad Sa’adat, and organizations around the world supporting Palestine, will take place on October 17-25, demanding freedom for Palestinian prisoners and focusing on the case of imprisoned General Secretary Ahmad Sa’adat, denied family visits by occupation forces, and imprisoned Arab struggler Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, held in French prisons for 30 years.

The Front praised Sa’adat for rejecting the denial of family visits, refusing to sign the order denying him visits with his family, and noted that he is planning to launch an open hunger strike if the prison authorities do not cancel the order denying family visits and end the ongoing policy of depriving hundreds and thousands of prisoners of their most basic human rights. It urged all to raise their action and commitment to meet this challenge and stand with Sa’adat and his fellow Palestinian political prisoners as they demand their rights, especially the most basic right to family visits.

Salutes to Gaza at Ziad Rahbani concert in Lebanon

Salutes to Gaza at Ziad Rahbani concert in Lebanon

Lebanese composer and singer Ziad Rahbani performed a concert entitled “Gaza” in Sidon, Lebanon on October 10 at the Maarouf Saad Cultural Center, potentially his last performance in Lebanon before his scheduled travel to Russia.

The songs at the concert were dedicated to the people of South Lebanon and the people of Gaza, saluting their steadfastness and resistance. Rahbani also performed classic songs from his repertoire.

During the concert, Rahbani called for the freedom of imprisoned PFLP General Secretary Ahmad Sa’adat, and for all Palestinian prisoners, highlighting Sa’adat’s case and emphasizing that no party has the right to concede Palestinian rights, and particularly the cause of the prisoners.

Comrades Mohammed el-Ghoul and Ahmad Tanani, a youth delegation of the PFLP from Gaza, spoke at the concert, addressing the crowd with a message of resistance from Gaza. Comrades Leila Khaled and Maher Yamani also attended the event.

Ireland Stands with Palestine: Protest for Boycott of Zionism

The following report comes from the Newry Palestine Support Group in Newry, Ireland. Salutes to the comrades from Newry, who are actively participating in the international struggle to isolate “Israel” and build the movement in solidarity with the Palestinian people and our struggle for return and liberation:

Once again the Newry Palestine Support has taken to the streets to show solidarity and support to the people of Palestine.

Over a dozen activists took part in Saturday’s protest outside the Sainsbury’s store in the centre of Newry. Complete with Palestine and PFLP flags the activists distributed hundreds of leaflets to Saturday shoppers. A banner which read Saoirse Don Phalaistin (Freedom for Palestine) was also unfurled at the busy Quays shopping complex.

PFLP salutes fallen comrade Osama Mahmoud Abbas Abu Omreen

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine saluted the fallen leader and fighter, Comrade Osama Mahmoud Abbas Abu Omreen on October 10; he was targeted by a Zionist drone for assassination in the recent aggression against the Gaza Strip, killed when the occupation forces shot a missile into his car.

The memorial was organized by the Muin al-Masri Organization of the PFLP, whose name commemorates a comrade and leader killed in the course of struggle for Palestinian liberation. Comrade Zakaria Abu Obeid opened the event, saluting the line of martyrs who have led the Front and the Palestinian struggle on the road of liberation. He also saluted the Palestinian prisoners behind occupation bars, led by PFLP General Secretary Ahmad Sa’adat, who is currently struggling against a ban on family visits imposed on him by the occupation prison authorities.

Leadership Delegation of the PFLP visited the Martyrs' cemetery of the Palestinian Revolution in Beirut, Lebanon:

On September 14, Ahmad Sa’adat, imprisoned Palestinian leader and General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was denied family visits for a period of three months by occupation prison authorities. This action comes amid the denial of family visits to hundreds of Palestinian political prisoners at the whim of Israeli occupation officials since June of this year. The denial of family visits is not only intended to isolate Palestinian prisoners from all connections to their families, communities and the world outside prison, but also to collectively punish Palestinian families by denying them access to their imprisoned loved ones...

...On October 17-25, please take action for Ahmad Sa’adat, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, and all of the Palestinian and Arab political prisoners in occupation jails – and under oppression and behind bars around the world.

TAKE ACTION:

1. Hold a protest at Israeli consulates and embassies demanding justice for Palestinian prisoners and an end to the denial of family visits. Find Israeli consulates in your city here.

3. Protest at French embassies and consulates on October 24-25 and demand the release of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah. Find French consulates in your area here.

5. Email us about your actions for Ahmad Sa’adat, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, and Palestinian prisoners! Contact us at campaign@freeahmadsaadat.org or use the form below.

6. Boycott, Divest and Sanction! Palestinians have called for an international boycott of Israel until it ends its apartheid policies and violation of Palestinian rights. Boycott products like Hewlett-Packard, Ahava and SodaStream, and demand divestment from companies like G4S, who provide security services to Israeli prisons. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine denounced the Zionist prison services’ decision to deny visits to Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Sa’adat was denied family visits for a period of three months; no reasons were given for this decision.

“This is a desperate and futile attempt to break the will and resolve of Palestinian leaders and symbols of the Palestinian national prisoners’ movement, which is a part of the systematic campaign of persecution waged by the prison administration against prisoners throughout the occupation prisons,” said the PFLP.

The Front noted that Sa’adat refused to sign the paper stating this decision, just as he has consistently rejected the legitimacy of the occupier and its military court, and that this decision will be met only with increased determination to struggle against the violations and repression exercised by the occupation prison authorities against all prisoners.

The Progressive Student Labor Action Front at An-Najah University in Nablus denounced security forces’ attacks on a student protest, and demanded that they be held accountable. Furthermore, the students demanded that U.S. officials and their delegations be considered unwelcome at the university, with its lengthy and distinguished history of struggle, while the U.S. continues its participation in the war crimes of the occupier against the Palestinian people...

...Security forces not only attacked student demonstrators but also reporters and photographers, confiscating the camera of one reporter and deleting some images. On Tuesday, September 30, student organizations organized a meeting to follow up on these events and organize a protest against the suppression of student organizing and protest on campus. Student ID cards were again taken and four students were threatened with expulsion from the university.

Protesters on Tuesday again raised slogans and banners against the presence of the U.S. consul at An-Najah university and against the attacks of the security against students, whether on campus or off campus.

14th anniversary of Al-Aqsa Intifada: Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa are under attack

On the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa remain under threat from occupation forces, said the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The events of late September and early October 2000 remain fresh in the mind of every Palestinian, said the Front, recalling the occupation forces attacking mass marches of Palestinians in occupied Palestine ’48, killing 13 martyrs in cold blood and wounding dozens while arresting hundreds, as they sought to suppress the upsurge of our people for Jerusalem and al-Aqsa in all cities and villages under occupation.

Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque continue to be under threat and in danger, said the Front; Jerusalem faces a systematic, rapid and extremely dangerous policy of Judaization, where at the hands of occupation soldiers and settlers, 23 Palestinian homes were confiscated in Silwan, while more Palestinian homes are destroyed each day as mass arrests and administrative detention against Palestinian leaders continue. Furthermore, the storming and invasion of the al-Aqsa grounds by settlers and soldiers takes place on a frequent, at times almost daily, basis.

The escalation of Zionist aggression and Judaization of Jerusalem requires that all national and Islamic forces, and the PLO Executive Committee, give a high priority to the situation facing Jerusalem, and to defend the Palestinian and Arab character of Jerusalem as part of our program of struggle everywhere the Palestinian people are located, and to support the resistance to the repressive, racist, threatening actions of the occupier in Jerusalem at Palestinian, Arab and international levels.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in northern Gaza organized a voluntary work day in Beit Hanoun in the martyrs’ cemetery. The cemetery was targeted by Zionist occupation forces from the first day of the assault on Gaza, shelled by tanks which later entered the city, leading to significant damage to the graves, including the opening of some, as a result of warplanes bombarding the homes surrounding the cemetery.

The volunteer work day is one of a series of actions organized by the Front in Beit Hanoun to highlight the suffering and destruction waged by the occupation forces over 51 days of aggression, and to declare the town of Beit Hanoun a disaster area in urgent need of relief.

On Sunday, October 12, the Committee of the Martyr Ghassan Kanafani will hold a public event and discussion on the Palestinian resistance and solidarity with Palestine in Marino, Italy, at the Social Center of the Organized Proletarian Initiative at Via del Giardino Vecchio 1.

The meeting, which will be followed by a dinner, will focus on the current situation in Palestine, the situation of the solidarity movement with Palestine, and the political future of the Palestinian cause. Meeting: 5:30 pm, Dinner 8:30 pm. To register for the dinner, please email the names of attendees to info@kanafani.it.

Comrade Khaled Barakat, Palestinian activist and writer, speaking from Beirut, said that the intensifying attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation and its security institutions, particularly in the West Bank and Jerusalem and inside the prisons, will fail and will only make the PFLP stronger.

“These attacks were expected,” said Barakat. “The recent mass arrests against what the occupation believes and claims to be cadres of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine came in three waves. The first was immediately prior to the capture of the three Israeli settlers near al-Khalil. The second was the occupation’s exploitation of these events to conduct mass arrests against hundreds of Palestinians, which included members of the PFLP who were released in the October 2011 Wafa al-Ahrar prisoner exchange with the Palestinian resistance. The third came during and after the occupier’s criminal aggression on Gaza. The occupation also has repeatedly denied and blocked Palestinians from leaving the country who it believes or alleges to be connected to the PFLP or related institutions.”

The Palestinian Farah Foundation for Relief and Development organized an event marking the 14th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada with a Palestinian heritage exhibition in the Ghassan Kanafani Hall in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine office in Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria.

Despite the suffering of our people and the siege of hunger and thirst, they make the impossible possible. The organizers thanked all of those who came together to bring hope to our people in the Yarmouk camp and in all refugee camps. The event was organized by Comrades Amal Asfour and Salah al-Madani with the guidance of Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Abu Ahmad Fouad.

The criminal Benjamin Netanyahu is now using the arena of the United Nations to continue his deception, lies, threats, intimidation and misdirection, attempting to cover up his and his army’s terror massacres against Palestinian civilians, children and elders, who are still being killed in cold blood in full view of the world, said the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in response to Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly...

...Once again, the Front emphasized the importance of prosecuting the Zionist war criminals in international courts for their crimes against the Palestinian people, which requires Palestinian officials to urgently sign the Rome Statute and join the International Criminal Court, and immediately file to prosecute the leaders of the occupier as war criminals.

IOA slaps three-month visit ban on prisoner Ahmed Saadat

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) barred prisoner Ahmad Saadat, the secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, from receiving prison visits for three renewable months.

Saadat’s wife, Abla, said in press remarks on Thursday that the Israeli prison authority did not state the reason for its decision.

The detainee, currently held in Gilboa prison, are regularly transferred to different jails as part of the ongoing punitive measures taken against him.

The wife said the Israeli jailers always prevent her and her children from visiting their father, but the difference this time was that the visit ban decision was issued in writing.

Saadat’s wife appealed to human rights groups to intervene with the Israeli prison authority to enable her and her children to see their father.
