Protest denounces Palestinian Authority security forces attacks on youth movement, former prisoners

The National and Islamic Forces organized a mass protest in Manara Square in Ramallah on Monday, October 10, in rejection of the participation of PA president Mahmoud Abbas in the funeral of Zionist war criminal Shimon Peres and in protest of the campaign of repression by PA security forces against Palestinian political activists and youth marchers.

Representatives of various Palestinian political parties and organizations took part in the march, including youth from the march suppressed the previous week, chanting in support of Palestinian resistance actions and the prisoners’ stedfastness, and denouncing the actions of the security forces.

Issam Baker, the coordinator of the National and Islamic Forces in Ramallah, called on the PA to put an end to attacks on public freedoms, saying that the martyrs are the voice of the resistance.

Comrade Omar Shehadeh of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine emphasized the need for accountability for those responsible for the attack on protesting Palestinian youth.
Sumoud Sa’adat, Palestinian activist and the daughter of imprisoned PFLP General Secretary Ahmad Sa’adat emphasized that this event indicates the broad rejection of the PA security forces’ suppression of activists and former prisoners on a popular and national level. She noted that the PA security forces’ actions only serve the interests of the occupation and its killing of Palestinians, emphasizing that the martyrs and the prisoners are leading the struggle in resistance to the occupation and for the unity of the land and people of Palestine.
