PFLP warns against US imperialism in Kerry’s visit to the region, demands UN implement resolutions on Palestine

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine warned against dealing with the US Secretary of State John Kerry in his visit to the region, which is aimed to pressure Palestinians to stop the intifada and return to the spiral of senseless and harmful negotiations, and to provide security for the occupation which is attempting to emerge from the situation imposed upon it by the rising intifada. 

The Front noted that United States imperialism is a full partner with the Zionist occupation in the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people. Therefore, such visits only bring more disaster, devastation and Zionist crimes for the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, the Front noted that the remarks of Nikolay Mladenov, the United Nations coordinator for the peace process in the Middle East and representative of the Secretary-General regarding the current situation were entirely biased in favor of the occupation. The role of the United Nations is to press for the implementation of resolutions of international legitimacy and protect our occupied people from the crimes of colonialism, not to propose “solutions” to serve the interests of the occupation and strengthen its control over Palestinian land.

The Front noted that Mladenov’s proposed political and procedural steps to change the situation in Palestine predominantly represent the Zionist position, attempt to justify the crimes of the occupation against our people and return us to the fruitless path of endless negotiations.

The Front also emphasized that the primary problem for the Palestinian people is the occupation, which is the perpetrator and the source of hatred and terror, and that the Palestinian people are working to resist terror and colonialism and recover their stolen rights, as is legitimate under international law.

Mladenov’s call upon the Palestinian Authority to continue and improve security coordination is a call to attack the resistance and undermine the intifada on behalf of the occupation. The Front emphasized that the responsibility of the United Nations is to listen to the voice of the Palestinian people and to respond to its just cause, which is recognized by the United Nations’ own resolutions and institutions.

Israel's occupation forces shot 19 y/o PFLP member Malik Akram Shahin in forehead with an illegal expanding bullet during early Tuesday invasion of Duheisha refugee camp in Bethlehem, with the bullet left lodged in his head. 

Shahin was left without medical aid for an extended period before he could be evacuated to a hospital in Beit Jala, where he was pronounced dead. It's unlikely that he could have been saved even with immediate help - his skull was shattered to 300 separate pieces according to an x-ray study of his head. 

Five other young members of PFLP were arrested by Israel's occupation forces.

Members of PFLP carried Shahin on his final voyage, with thousands of people taking part in his funeral.

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Thousands of Palestinians attended the funeral of 19-year-old Malik Akram Shahin on Tuesday morning, hours after he was shot dead by Israeli forces during a detention raid into Duheisha refugee camp south of Bethlehem. 

A Ma'an reporter said the funeral procession set off from Beit Jala governmental hospital at 10:30 a.m. for Shahin's home in Duheisha camp where his family paid their last respects. The 19-year-old youth had four sisters.

Mourners joining the funeral procession chanted slogans condemning the Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

Shahin was shot in the head during a predawn detention raid into the refugee camp on Tuesday morning. Local residents said that Israeli soldiers fired live rounds, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades "indiscriminately" through the camp's narrow alleys.

After soldiers shot Shahin, he was reportedly "left bleeding for long before he was evacuated to the public hospital in Beit Jala, where medics pronounced him dead," locals said.

An Israeli army spokesperson had no information of his death, but she said that Israeli soldiers had opened fire after Palestinians threw "pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails" at them. 

The left-wing Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine later said that Shahin had been one of its supporters. The group said in a statement that he fell "during fierce clashes with Israeli troops who raided the camp to detain young men affiliated to the PFLP."

Following his death, a Bethlehem committee announced a halt to all business across the district and stores and government institutions were closed.

Clashes were reported to have broken out in Tuqu village in Bethlehem after schools were closed, although no injuries were reported.

At least 114 Palestinians have now been killed in just over two months of unrest across the occupied Palestinian territory.

A young Palestinian, only 18 years of age, was shot and killed, earlier on Tuesday at dawn, after dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded Deheishe refugee camp, south of the West Bank district of Bethlehem. The soldiers also kidnapped five, and injured many others.

Malek Akram Shahin, 18, was shot with a live israeli army round in his head, and was moved to Beit Jala Hospital, where he died of his serious injury, medical sources said.

Eyewitnesses said a large Israeli military force invaded the refugee camp from various directions, leading to clashes with dozens of local youths, who hurled stones and empty bottles on them. 

The army fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs, causing several injuries.

The soldiers stormed and searched dozens of homes in the camp, and kidnapped five Palestinians, known to be members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). 

The kidnapped Palestinians have been identified as Dia al-Ja’bari, Ali Mohammad Abu Ajamiyya, Mustafa al-Hasanat, Qussai Abu Laban and Mohammad Elias Sarahna. The soldiers also summoned Odai Ayyad and Bilal al-Afandi for interrogation in the Etzion military base. 

In addition, the soldiers interrogated many families, while searching and ransacking their homes in the refugee camp.

Medics said the Israeli army stopped them, and their ambulances, and prevented them from even walking towards wounded residents, while many families were calling for help after suffering severe effects of tear gas inhalation.

One of those families is that of Abu Daoud Ramadan, who suffocated after inhaling the Israeli gas bombs.

Furthermore, clashes took place between dozens of residents and Israeli soldiers in ‘Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem; the soldiers fired several live rounds, and rubber-coated steel bullets.

The clashes were mainly concentrated in the al-Moftah area, on the eastern entrance of the refugee camp.

Leader and representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Maher al-Taher said the Jerusalem Intifada will not stop until achieving its goals. 

In a statement to Quds Press on Monday, Taher called on Palestinians to support the Jerusalem Intifada and demanded the provision of political, economic and organizational protection for the intifada as well as the formation of its leadership in order to guarantee its continuation within a certain agenda. 

He opined that such an end requires resolving the internal division and retaining unity amid a clear political program and a new strategy in light of the failure of the peace process.

Comrade Leila Khaled, member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Palestinian resistance national figure, participated in protests against the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Manila, Philippines. The demonstrations drew thousands of protesters with the Philippines popular movement to the streets, and coincided with the Fifth International Assembly of the International League of People’s Struggles, where Comrade Khaled delivered a keynote address. 

She addressed the crowd, speaking about the struggle against brutal economic policies represented by APEC, and against corporate and imperialist looting and exploitation, and the need for a constant international struggle for liberation of the exploited and oppressed peoples from the grip of imperialism, to determine their own future and reclaim the rights and capacities of their nations.

Khaled also participated in many media interviews, speaking in solidarity with the Lumad indigenous people in the Philippines and discussing mutual histories of displacement by colonialism and struggle for return, and the common struggle of the Palestinian people with other oppressed peoples in Asia, Africa and around the world, who are struggling daily for human and national rights while confronting repression, plunder and exploitation. The Palestinian people stand alongside and at the forefront of the international struggle against imperialism, racism and occupetion.

She noted the central role of revolutionary women in the movement, commending the role of GABRIELA and the women’s movement in the Philippines, pointing to their key role in the struggle for justice and liberation.

Jose Maria Sison, international chair of ILPS, sent a letter to Comrade Khaled, thanking her for her participation: “Your gracious presence and militant speeches have inspired the participants of the 5th International Assembly and further developed their understanding of and solidarity for the struggle of the Palestinian people against US imperialism and Zionist Israel. The ILPS stands firmly with the Palestinian people their revolutionary struggle for a Free Palestine!”

PFLP condemns criminal bombing in Tunisia: attack is extension of US/Zionist terror in the region

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine strongly condemned the criminal bombing that targeted a security bus in Tunisia, leading to the martyrdom of a number of innocent people, noting that terror in Tunisia is an extension of the US-Zionist terror in the region. 

The Front emphasized that these criminal actions in Tunisia are aimed first against the growing role of the national progressive forces in Tunisia struggling against imperialism, Zionism and reactionary forces and actively confronting normalization with the Zionist enemy. 

The Front noted that Tunisian youth, who were historically at the forefront of guerilla struggle for the liberation of Palestine are being pushed deliberately into other battles instead of confronting the Zionist enemy.

The Front emphasized that the means to protect Palestine, Tunisia and the peoples of the region is through more involvement in the revolutionary struggle against the Zionist enemy and confronting US imperialism and its agents in the region.
