FOR A BIT OF AIR, KHALIDA JARRAR, PALESTINIAN LAWMAKER LIES DOWN ON THE FLOOR

Tragedy has followed tragedy and she copes heroically with all of them, at least outwardly; she is behind bars for the fifth time in her life and the fourth time since 2015. The fact that, other than in one case, she has never actually been convicted of anything (and even that sole conviction was for a political offense, “membership in an illegal association,” and not for committing acts of terrorism or violence), without Israel ever having presented the slightest bit of evidence against her at a trial — this should shock every person in Israel or abroad who believes in democracy. Five times Haaretz has called for her release in editorials, but in vain.

Jarrar, who opposes the regime, the regime of occupation, is a member of the Palestinian Legislative Assembly, which is not functioning at present, a fact that should accord her parliamentary immunity. She is a prisoner of conscience in Israel. When we talk about prisoners of conscience in Myanmar, in Russia, in Iran or in Syria, we also must not forget Jarrar. When we talk about Israel as a democracy, it’s our obligation to remember Jarrar.

KHALIDA JARRAR'S FIGHT REPRESENTS THE STRUGGLE OF ALL PALESTINIANS

On August 12 Israeli forces transferred Palestinian legislator and activist Khalida Jarrar from Damon prison in Haifa, where she had been held in administrative detention since December 26 2023, to NeveTirza, Israel's only women-only prison, in Ramla. There, she is being held in solitary confinement in a cell that is 2 by 1 ½ meters, with no window and no ventilation.

According to Addameer, the Israeli prison administration has even sealed off the small openings in the bathroom window, the only source of air for Jarrar’s cell, and she needs to crawl to the tiny crack under her cell door for air. She is being suffocated alive. The temperature in her cell is extremely high, due to the lack of ventilation, and she receives very little water as well as insufficient food.

In a statement, the PFLP expressed deep pride in their fallen members, emphasizing their commitment to the path of armed resistance. The group vowed to honor the sacrifices of these leaders and all martyrs of the Palestinian and Arab nations by continuing the fight until the Israeli occupation is eradicated.

PFLP announces assassination of leaders in Israeli airstrike on Beirut

ISRAEL JUST ASSASSINATED THREE NON-HEZBOLLAH POLITICAL FIGURES. WESTERN MORAL COLLAPSE LET IT.

In the first attack on Lebanon’s capital Beirut since the recent increase in Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Israel killed three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of
Palestine (PFLP)
. But as political analyst Omar Baddar insisted, the target wasn’t what mattered; it’s what the attack represented. And that is Israel crossing all the red lines it can to provoke a response from Lebanon, and possibly Iran, which could justify “an all-out war” in the region.
